Spotlight on the Corporate Social Responsibility Directive (CSRD)

On 22 June 2022, ground breaking news on corporate sustainability reporting were settled in the EU.

The Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on a slightly revised version of the initial proposal for the CSRD, presented by the European Commission in April 2021. The final text has yet to be made public within a few days or weeks, and particular attention to final detailed provisions will be needed.

What does it mean to your company?

  • The directive extends number of companies publishing ESG reports.
  • It extends the scope of companies subject to mandatory reporting obligations and aims to improve the quality of reported sustainability information by imposing mandatory use of European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and mandatory audit of sustainability reports produced in compliance with the CSRD.
  • Whether you are a listed or non-listed business, the entire value chain will shift.
