Boris Šváby has been practicing law since 2001. He provides legal services to Slovak, English and French speaking clients in various corporate and commercial matters such as mergers and acquisitions, establishment of joint-ventures, real estate law, corporate law and general commercial law and labour law.
Boris has extensive experience in corporate law, especially in the field of mergers & acquisitions and private equity transactions. Boris has a track record of more than 35 transactions related to the acquisition of Slovak companies or their sale in the form of share or asset deal. As part of his expertise in corporate law, Boris also advised on establishing joint-ventures, negotiation of shareholders’ agreements and financing of acquisitions.
Boris has extensive expertise in litigation, debt collection matters and settlement of disputes. He represented foreign banks, insurance companies and construction companies in proceedings at Slovak courts. His litigation cases are very complex and usually involve jurisdiction issues or encompass several different court proceedings.
Boris is also experienced in real estate transactions. He advised in several greenfield and brownfield projects and assisted clients in due diligences and acquisitions of lands and buildings including financing issues of the acquisition process.
Finally, Boris advises large corporate clients (Slovak subsidiaries of foreign groups) on their day-to-day business matters, including mainly corporate governance, contract law advise, preparation of legal opinions from various fields of law and labour law. Within this activity, Boris is the key contact for in-house legal departments of the clients´ mother companies, and provides clear explanation of Slovak legal concepts and adaptation of foreign concepts to the Slovak legal environment.
Boris is fluent in Slovak, English and French.
